I found my 91 to have this sensor unhooked and broken... I was getting no CE light, or unusual driving conditions. What does it do? It's found on the coolant line on the rear head. I think it's feeding the heater core? Just curious as I already swapped in a different one.

That is the Cold Engine Lock Out switch. It keeps the heater fan from coming on until the coolant temps rises above 100F or so.

CTS maybe? (coolant temp sensor)

p.s. those headlights are great. Where did you get them?
That's known at the ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature sensor).

I believe the headlights are from an Impala.

Actually, I believe Paul is corrrect. The ECT and the cold engine lockout (CELO) switch do look somewhat similar, but from what I see in the pic, and from Adam's description of its location, I'd have to conclude also that its the CELO switch.

You're right, Paul is correct. I quoted the previous post to denote the context. Please read into it more closely ;-) I was correcting his previous acronym.

So, basically the sensor does nothing unless you've got the heater on? I am kind of having sub par performance with my a/c blower as it doesn't come out super strong like my mom's 95 when I put it on max a/c... any clue as to why that is?

Oh and yes the headlights are off an 00' impala. ;)

Thanks all,
Adam
