Hey everyone, I've been doing research on the SHO engines and seem to come across two unknown things... people refering to "secondarys" and a IMRC to control them. What are they and what do they do?

secondaries are the things that your runners are connected to and then they are connected to the intake plenums (sp). At about 3800 rpms the secondaries open making the sho the car it is. not sure what the IMRC is that you are talking about but they are vaccum controlled.

brief isn't it

The intake has 12 runners, 2 for each cylinder, one long and one short. The long ones are the "primaries" and flow air all the time. The short ones are the "secondaries" and only flow air above 3950RPM. The air flow through the secondaries is turned on and off by a set of butterfly valves which are controlled by the engines computer.

IRCM stands for Integrated Relay Control Module. It's the black box mounted ahead of the coil pack and above the radiator. It's basically a box full or relays used to control various systems on the car. It is not a computer, it simply follows orders from the main computer(ECM).

The IMRC is (I believe) the Integrated Manifold Runner Control. It is the valve for the vacuum to the secondaries.

IMRC is the 93-on term for the Intake Manifold Runner Control (aka secondaries). 92 and prior terminalogy for this subsystem was Intake Air Control (IAC).

IRCM is the 92 and prior term for the relay module as described above. 93-on term for same is CCRM - Constant Control relay Module.

Hope this alphabet soup doesn't leave you rant ing
