Just wondering which front sway bar would work best on a Gen I with the Gen III subframe conversion ? Since it is lighter, I am thinking it needs less front bar; would the 20.5 mm along with the stocker rear bar work best ?

I think most people are running the Gen 3 22mm front bar, but you could use a 20.5mm. Just depends on what you want.

The front subframe doesn't change the geometry of the bar, and there's no significant difference in weight. The rules on swaybar diameter are the same as for any other SHO - 22/26 is a good bet in an MTX, you can use 24/26 with a Quaife but I still like 22/26 better.

The Gen 3 bars have collars forged onto them to keep them from squirming side-to-side in their bushings; if you're using a Gen 1/Gen 2 bar you should use a set of collars from McMaster-Carr to control the squirming. I don't have the part #s handy right now, but they're in some past posts on the board, maybe search 'collar McMaster'

I also kept my 22mm FSB from a Gen I/II wagon with the Gen III SF swap and I have a Quaife and a 26mm RSB. Yes I had to use those spilt collars on the Gen I/II FBS to keep it from moving side to side too much with the Gen III setup. I ordered a set of p/n 2380K24 zinc plated steel 2-pcs clamp-on shaft collar with a 7/8" ID bore from McMaster-Carr. You mount them on both sides of the FSB, inside each of the mount bushing.
