Hi guys, all four struts on my car are shot and all of them seem to be making the dreaded knocking sound from the mounts/ bearings. I have 4 tokiko's on my other car that I plan on putting on this car when time permits. Can I do any damage to the car itself by riding on these old struts? Thanks!

Yep. I would replace or not drive. The function of the shock/strut is to absorb bumps and if they are not working properly you could damage the susp from the car slamming down on to the stops or the wheel moveing up on to the stops. The clunking sound you here is from the strut because the fluid has leaked out.

Actually, the function of the struts is to keep the wheels on the road. Bad struts can lead to wheel hop and can actually cause you to lose traction when you really need it. (In other words, this can be very dangerous) Although riding on them for a short period may not cause any permanent damage to the car itself, it is very ******* everything that is taking the blows that the struts should be handling.

Best to get them replaced as soon as possible. Your car will thank you for it.

Struts and shocks are really spring dampners. The springs do all the heavy work. The struts keep them in check.
