My SHO pops 6-8 times really quickly when de-accelerating from high RPMs, I never noticed this before, untill after I installed a straight threw muffler design. Mabye this has something do do w/ it?

That's not a backfire. Backfires come out the intake. The SHO's engine control system is supposed to cut fuel flow on closed throttle until the engine speed drops down near idle to prevent the combustion of unburned fuel in the exhaust system like the old carbureted engines were so good at. Are these loud pops or softer, burbling noises?

Backfires are caused when the air/fuel mixture is ignited when the intake valve is still open. This is a problem of either incorrect ignition timing or incorrect camshaft actuation of the valves. They can be caused by failing ignition system controls, crossfiring plug wires, damaged valves or valve actuation hardware (tappets, springs, guides) or a slipped or mistimed timing belt. Changing the exhaust system shouldn't cause that.
