I want to upgrade my headlight and fog light bulbs, but do not want to go HID. What are some good choices that will give optimum light output and have a decent look to them?

I just did some looking at the Silverstars and the reviews, it seems the Silverstar Ultras are the way to go. I am looking for replacements as well and I think I will go with the Ultras, the regular Silverstars had bad ratings and reviews and makes me wonder what they changed about them..

I found that the Silverstars had a nice bright white light, but they suck bad when the roads are wet. The light looks so white because of the slight blue tint on the bulbs, which reduces the light output. I was also burning through them pretty fast. I haven't tried the Silverstar Ultras.

The last set of headlight bulbs I bought were Sylvania XtraVision, and have been much happier. I bought them at least 3 years ago, and with over half of my driving being with the headlights on, I haven't had one burn out. By the way, you get two for the cost of one regular Silverstar.

My recommendation is to have a set of new headlight housings, Xtravision bulbs, and some kind of harness that powers the headlights directly from the battery. And don't forget to aim them correctly.

Anything with a tint on the bulb will make it appear to be brighter but actually output (lumen) will be reduced. Ge Nighthawks are good, I was getting my bulbs for my Honda from UK I believe tinted bulbs are not street legal there.

X2! I was just going to say this.
I'm curious WHY you would not want to go to a real HID set-up? DDMtuning sells the digital ballast set up for $45.
Last time I checked at AutoZone, SilverStars were about $50 for 2. So why spend more for the "fake" HID look, when you can have the real deal (most likely) cheaper!?!?!
