I have read that you should stay away from Felpro. I'm probably going to go with Nationals when I do mine.

Just did mine and the Fel-Pros SUCK!!

Went out and bought Nationals the next day. Fit much better and felt like a higher quality product.

I would stay away from the timkin ones too. They are metal around the outer edge and don't seem to seal very well. I put a small amount of rtv around the edge prior to installing them and my rear one still leaked.

Koyo brand?

Has anyone tried Koyo seal ? RCM sold those awhile back as premium cam seals, guess they are made in Japan.

Yes. And they suck. They are metal on the outside edge. Similar to the ones Jayro mentioned above. Within less than 1k miles they were leaking. Stay away.

I have ford OEM in mine, and 20,000 miles later, they are still good and not leaking.

I concur. The Ford and National seals seem to have fewest problems. Both require RTV around the outside rim.

The metal OD seals probably require anaerobic, reactive sealer like one uses to seal transmission case halves. To get this to work properly the sealing surace in the head or valve cover (or cae half) must be brain surgery clean and degreased . . . . .

The more modern design Windstar axle seals, which fit on the drivers side of an MTX, can be made to fit the passenger side of an MTX, and likely fit ATX, come with the red anaerobic sealant preapplied to the OD. But trans sealing is not the point of this thread . . .
