OAR needs to be -0.80 to achieve full boost with the AO. Maintaining that OAR has been a chore for many even with 93, if not impossible. Everyone agreeing that -0.50 is best case scenario on 91 octane are basically agreeing that the upgraded turbos are rendered useless with the tune, by design.

I’m getting tired of all the negativity on here, I have listened and done and done and listened and just really confused why everyone is so freakin negative to me about this?!?! I thank the people that have given me sound advice but all the guys that keep busting my balls, please quit replying! All I want is to get my car straight not a shit load of keyboard drama.

I understand what you are going through. You spend all of this money and it isn't performing to YOUR expectations. There clearly is a disconnect between your set up and others making more power with the same mods. Sorry to say but it is the 91. The AO tune is doing it's job. However, your car will never see big power levels because of two factors. 1. 91 octane. It just won't make the power you expect on 91 octane. 2. Altitude. Higher altitude still effects force induction setups. So you have less air and less octane. Those are power killers.

The highest octane I have here in AZ is 91. With the extreme heat, I am limited with 91 also. Also the D.A. here is usually complete dog shit averaging 3000 feet+. Extreme heat (hot air) is less dense, add 91 octane, and I am in the same boat as you.

However, I have a dedicated E30 tune and my car runs on that tune 95% of the time. That E30 tune has been revised ALOT. Guess what? I get very little knock, and with stock worn out turbos, I am knocking on the 11's full weight. If I threw it on the dyno I bet it would crank 410 hp and 510 tq to the tire if not more.

You have a couple of choices.

1. Run 91 and be happy with what the car does.
2. Run 91, and add meth.
3. Run a dedicated E30 tune. With my E30 tune, my car still averages 15 mpg and I flog the crap out of it.

So WTF does his AO tune mean then? It auto adjust to the fuels octane!!!???!? Right? It’s on his website !! Not 91 and E85,

That's exactly what's happening here. The AO tune as others have explained to you is set to reach max power with 93 octane, not 91. So by pulling power when you run 91 it is doing EXACTLY what it is supposed to. You don't have bad gas, you have 91 octane that is 91 octane. The AO tune will let you safely drive the car with 87 octane up to 93 octane. That doesn't mean it's going to make decent power on less than 93, but rather that it won't blow up your engine.

You have been told multiple times you need to up the octane of your fuel in order to see the full benefits of your tune. Adding E85 is done to boost octane in this case, not with the goal of running an E30 tune. However, the lower the E content of the E85 around you, the more it will take. That is why it was suggested that if your E85 is actually E54 you will need more. Using E85 as an octane booster is a very common thing and not unique to our cars. You could also add race gas as an octane booster, but that is likely more expensive.

Edit:
To piggy back on SM105K's post about running an E30 tune. I did see you have an upgraded hpfp, or at least that's how I read it. I'd strongly suggest going the E30 route then. That will make more power than the AO tune ever could, and you have the hpfp to do so with little to no worries.

Although all this side talk of what to expect with different fuels and the fact the AO is really an E20 tune is helpful, it has certainly distracted from the original problem of +0.30 OAR before this blame-the-rape-victim session started. Last thing I saw was OAR moving in the right direction with the presumed bad gas on the stock tune. Now we're on a new tank of gas WITH ETHANOL, correct? And 'same' problems? And the Peoples Temple Choir still sings "all you need is ethanol"

I'd ask you to elaborate on what you mean by the same problems but at this point I think you and everyone else can all agree that asking this forum for help was a mistake. Create a new account, start a new thread, but this time tell us your tuner is LMSSI so you won't get badgered by the fanboiz

I like the way that strip paired those two vendors.

Creative and comical all in one fell swoop.

Well done good sir.

...but at this point I think you and everyone else can all agree that asking this forum for help was a mistake...

I gotta disagree on this...coming here for help is, in my opinion, a great resource. ****, it's helped me out tremendously.

My gripe with him is that it sounds like he has never directly addressed this with his tuner before coming here shooting flares prematurely. I honestly don't know the fix to his particular issue and I can understand his frustration (I been there) but before I go running for a hand, I tend to try and make sure I've covered all my bases first. For all we know, it could be a simple fix in the tune that @mattr66 could've addressed had he tried to reach out and be a little patient.

Sorry, I don’t claim to be nearly as intelligent on this platform as many of you here, and I appreciate all the help I've received during my time here. But I feel pretty strongly about people who shout from the mountain top and never even made sure they dotted their "I"s or crossed their "T"s, especially after being told to cross those "T"s and dot those "I"s. It's a sign of weakness...that you can't handle problems yourself before running off to daddy/mommy. Harsh? Yeah...I call like I see it.

@Mike67, again.....deal with @mattr66 directly with this issue until you feel you've reached a wall or are unsuccessful with him, then we have something to go on when you tried all troubleshooting attempts....and be freaking patient...damn...

I emailed Mike this morning. I wanted him to drive on the stock tune and pump for a while to see how oar settled and stayed. He's already got the upgraded pump back in the car though. Next step is to make a stock file with the exception of the turbo wastegate settings and pump settings to see if it has the same problem. This would isolate an issue with the calibration or something with the car. Also I don't know if his part of the world has already switched to winter blend which we all know sucks on these cars no matter what the octane says it is...

Which part? Difficulty with knock/OAR? I can count five members that have stated the same thing at some point, without even looking beyond those who've participated in this thread.

The part about boost targets? I'm only repeating what you've said yourself:

Here's the crazy thing.... I just had 2 customers with the issue. One found metal to metal contact in his engine mounts and the other one had his exhaust pipes touching in the middle causing the issue. OAR on anyone else's calibration other than GH doesn't mean anything. The GH cal is much more reactive. At 0 OAR it runs stock boost, at -.8 it runs full boost. At -.96 it runs same boost as -.8 but has about 2 degrees more timing added to the base. The goal with the GH AOL was to make sure the cats can't get hot from too much boost and not enough timing. GH does not make the knock sensors more sensitive like alleged. We do not alter the knock sensor calibration, only the reaction time to modify OAR and the speed at which the knock sensors can add timing.

Please let me know what specifically I said that is false so I can edit or delete as needed.

Let me just say....you ain't kidding about winter blend. We swapped in CT...and damn. As the temps dropped, I was all like, whoa...my car is getting way faster. Then I got a fill up, and I'm all like....whoa...my car slowed down again.

Noticeable seat of the pants difference.

Well I do know he got his OAR to -0.96 on the stock tune no problem. Y’all can deduce what you want from that.

Really sick of your shit dude. How many of these cars have you tuned for customers again?

Why you think that comment has anything to do with you is beyond me. If it offends you for some reason then go :mecry:to your mommy about it ‘cause I don’t care the least what you think of me.

Funny how you had nothing to say for those wondering what the final problem/resolution was but you’re Johnny on the Spot as soon you think someone is knocking you. Sounds like this saga had an unsavory conclusion for ya, huh kiddo?

Y’all can now also deduce what you want from Matt’s unsolicited butthurt lashing out.

P.S. I’m still standing by to correct all my untruths, so lmk mmmkay?

P.P.S. The more and more you try to pound your chest and equate experience to expertise, the sadder and sadder it becomes.

I will say false KR from exhaust resonance can be different between tunes. I've had the same issue with differences in part throttle tuning. WOT no KR, but part throttle with my exhaust causing some KR with more boost heavy part throttle tuning. Also no KR when changing to a less boost mid range dependent tune.

Sounds like OP got whatever sorted as they haven't commented here in a while. Whether that be finding the knock source or swapping to a different tuner/tune.

Well, you're comment was, in fact, passive aggressively intended as a dig on @mattr66 ...we all read it that way, so sorry (not sorry) that he called you on that bitch-ass way of being an *******. You put all kinds of extra, unnecessary sauce on that post.

But with your response back to his...sounds a little like you were the one butt hurt more than anything, that's the way I read your comment.

I patiently await your response...or not. IDC...
