What are things that Normally go bad on Shos?

What are some common things that normally go bad on shos? and what do you guys do to fix them? i want to make my sho a solid daily driver.

Cam position sensor
Crank position sensor
Water pump (although I got 160k out of mine)
Plug well seals
Front main seal
Rear main seal
Fuel filter
Timing belt
Accessory belts

Just normal things really just like any other car. 60k maintenance will prevent a lot of this stuff from getting you caught on the side of the road. Number 1 rule of the SHO game is maintenance, maintenance, maintenance!

Agreed. Just consider every sensor and then some a routine maintenance item, and you will be fine

Damn it, you beat me to it!

Besides what Bizzy said, I find the Ford TOB sucks....really, really sucks. Everyone that owns a manual SHO should purchase the ceramic upgraded TOB from SHO NUT....along with a set of reinforced motor mounts.

Well I can tell you what doesn't break, the cheap parts. That is if a cheap part exists.

If it's in or on the SHO they break. Even the cheap parts, eg. exhaust ****** donut gasket = $5
These tend to break often.

Some of the minor things that sterotypicly happen to SHOs that I have experienced are the following.

-Stuck Theromstat=Engine Running too rich

-Bad Plug well seals and valve covers= Oil in spark plug wells

-Clogged IAB valve=Difficult startup/idle

Luckly everything I listed was an easy fix and not too expensive.....

or if you have my car, it's everything, and they always happen one right after the other.

Mine went through brakes, like it was cool or something. I also had a lot of trouble with plug wires.
But now that my plug wires are the same diameter as my intake runners, I don't have that problem. (now, the machine can't read the pulse, during smog tests)

Also, be REALLY nice to your climate control buttons. They're more or less impossible to fix, and a new module with good buttons is kind of hard to find.

Otherwise, tfalconier, if you simply use the "search" function and you have any interest in your own repairs/maintenance (besides major items), then you will learn a lot and appreciate your car more...or you will totally hate it and replace it with a Chevy.

Umm you should prolly get that checked out, something ain't right, are you using alot of power IE: aftmkt amps?

I do have a new stereo...but it is almost as basic as the original...otherwise, I cannot find the problem...thanks goodness for lifetime warranties!

Bad voltage regulators are supposed to cause you to run through althernators very quickly.

At least you got the alternator with the Lifetime Warranty from you local auto parts store (if you did it yourself, at least). I have people that burn through those Autolite Lifetime Warranty alternators, one guy had 3 alternators in three weeks before I guess he just got sick of hassling with them and just bought the voltage regulator which I'm assuming fixed it. Each time I sent him out the door with a new one, free of charge.

But yeah, check that voltage regulator...

I went through 3 alternators in a short amount of time and found that the problem was with the starter. The voltage regulator is part of the starter soleniod on the 93 ATX. It was just as easy to replace the whole starter than to try and find just the soleniod.

Other common problems...

Anything in the 60K procedure should be checked first, but besides that.
Fuel Pump
EGR Clogging
Exhaust Leak through ****** (which is why I don't have one now, just a welded on connection)
And tires that never seem to have enough grip...
Oh yeah if you have an ATX consider getting a trans go shift kit...it will do you wonders!
