When I was researching before buying mine I just called a local performance/machine shop and explained the situation. The guy was only semi-familiar with the problem but assured me he could do the welds. It took about an hour with my help and cost me $60.
Considering what they're worth at this point I would start there. The several hundred dollar job doesn't make any sense to me. Most competent welders should have no trouble doing it. It's the time disassembling and reassembling that is the bigger problem.
While it's apart - thoroughly clean the intake, at least consider replacing plugs and coils, (re)wrap the rear wiring harness in heat resistant tape.
