Weird beeping sound

I've got this sound that just shows up out of no where. It's coming from the passenger side, by the dashboard. It's this beeping that goes on for about 30 sec. after I turn on the car. It'll also turn on at random times too, like when I'm sitting in traffic. I heard it back when I first bought the car and it went away until just now. Any help would be appreciated.

I think I remember reading that the airbag control module will beep if its indicator light is burned out.

Forgive me for pushing this one up, but it struck a memory.

Years ago, moving from a VW bug to a Mopar, I moved the contents from one trunk to another. (first hint)

For more than two years I tried to find a phantom beeping. Random occurences but mostly during cornering. I even had a gas station attendant scratching his head one day. I just figured I had a very special Duster with a smog alarm.

When cleaning out the trunk I finally found the culprit. A household smoke detector in the bottom of a box of construction stuff. When the test button would get pushed, it would sound off. I shook my head and couldn't believe a nine volt battery would last that long wink

So anyway, a rouge beeper might not be so far fetched.
