Just a quick question about where to locate the Wide Band o-2.
I know it needs to be before the cats.

Knowing this, how is tuning effected when it can only read off of one bank?

Is there something Im missing?

Do you have the kit already? If so, it should be in the instructions. My PLX specified at least 24" from the from the exhaust ports on the head or turbo for optimal performance. I should also note that it is suggested to keep the WBO2 several inches away from the stock NBO2.

When tuning off of one bank, you assume that the other bank is reacting in the same manner provided everything is running correctly. When using the TwEECer RT, you'll be able to note the differences between banks with the KAMRF, HEGO 1 & 2, LAMBSE, etc... With this said, it is better to run the WBO2 off of the front bank because it is more prone to running lean because of its position on the fuel rail.

EDIT: This may help answer any questions.

Also, the tech sheet for your sensor will tell you exactly where you should locate the sensor. for example I have a bosch LSu 4.2 sensor with my kit, it has very specific guidelines for location, mostly with respect to tempature.this is the tech sheet for the bosch (pages 19 and 20 for sensor location), most likely any kit you buy will have this sensor. 1slickred89

Right or wrong, I replaced the front O2 sensor with the wideband O2 unit and used the narrow band output from the PLX to feed info to the computer. It has been working for over a year and I have not noticed any negative issues.

Tell me if I am doing something wrong, but this seemed like the most straightforward way to do the install. I even had an old dead NB o2 sensor that I cut the connector off of, so I could plug straight into the factory harness without splicing.

Thanks

Mike,

Using the factory location and utilizing both NB and WB outputs is perfectly fine. The factory sensors are a good location. The comment about the WB being away from the NB hold true if they are both in the same pipe, which yours is not. You're using it just the way the control unit was designed.

I made mine a stand alone system. Therefore, I did not really mess with anthing on the car so I would be sure I would not have self-inflicted issues to iron out.

Thanks for the affirmation.

It makes me feel better that I did not do the duct tape approach.
