I've heard people say this a couple of times, so I decided to try it myself. Sure enough, a search for 'wavetrac' doesn't point to the Wavetrac thread http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=90633

Any ideas why? There are results to other threads that have a mention or two .. but not the thread that has it for every second sentence. :)

There are several reasons why and I'll try to explain them as best I can.

1) The search indexes had not been updated 100% since the database error in June. I had hoped to be able to restore the missing help section, and if I had been able to do that, it would have saved down time by not having to re-write the search index.

Since I was not able to do that in a timely manner, it's best that I got the search engine re-indexed. Worst case scenario is that if I'm able to get the help section restored I'll just have to take the forum down again to redo the search index.

2) The classifieds were not included with the search index and when I set up the Gauging interest and Group buy sections, they inherited the no-search category. I did not realize this when I had set them up since it has been quite awhile since I added a new forum. My mistake.

So I took the forum down yesterday and re-indexed the entire forum. The classifieds are included in the index, but I'm still having a little difficulty in bringing up the Wavetrac group buy just by searching the word "Wavetrac" alone in the simple search. When doing an advanced search it comes up just fine. I am not sure why this is happening. It does come up when you click "new posts".

I will consult with the software people to find out why it will not bring up the thread under the simple search. I think that the advanced search problem has been solved. Until I can get some answers from the software people I will sticky the threads you made yesterday so that people will be aware of the group buy.

I'm very sorry for the troubles, I wasn't aware that there was an issue until yesterday afternoon.

Sorry to everybody else for having the forum down for so long. We have just shy of 1 million posts so the re-indexing of the forum is a very time consuming and server intensive process and it just can't be done with the forum open to the public for obvious reasons.

It seems to be working now with a simple search!

Thanks for your efforts.

Awesome! I guess the search engine needed for more searches for it to be made in order to update it properly. I'm glad and relieved that it's working now without any hitches. *whew!*
