So I bought a new 15 SHO two months ago and I'm lovin the car. I went to put a K&N drop in filter in today, which btw did not fit properly in the air box so I returned it, and the picture below is what I found in the air box. Wtf??? I can't see how a squirrel would have gotten into that small air dam. Plus I keep the car in the garage 75% of the time. There are a lot of acorns and squirrels in CT though... What do you think, did it affect performance...

I can easily see a squirrel getting into the air box through the fender. There are no grates or screens between the outside air and the air box in the fender.

Stock filters work great. But a K&N dropin filter will improve performance, shaving off up to 0.1 in the 1/4 at the track.

?? really? how can there possibly be that much pressure drop across the stock filter? is there data to support that claim?

This is based purely on track data from end users in Canada & the U.S. on the Gen 4.1 & Gen 4.2 SHOs.

Also, though I don't have the flow info to verify, the flow curves may be different for stock vs K&N although the max flow may not be significantly so. Thus the airflow may be more available/better demand-matched with K&N than the stock filter.

I have that critter problem with every single car we own. I fashion mesh wire caps for the air intakes; held in place with tie wraps.
