The only time I look for aftermarket performance items is if the car comes in for a catastrophic failure. If your car comes in for common issues, TSBs, etc I could care less because I know it's an issue.
If you car comes in with pistons melted etc I contact engineering and let them proceed with the steps they require. Sometimes it is just questions about obvious mods and sometimes it is uploading info from the IDS.
I know of no way to check for a tune on the IDS. I know sometimes they will set codes if they are still loaded in the PCM or the IDS will not connect sometimes if they are loaded in.
I do know engineering will have us send uploads to them if they suspect tunes but I don't know for sure if it can ghost read old tunes.
Some techs say they can see if a car was tuned before with the IDS. If that's the case pm me and tell me how because in the 20 years with Ford I don't know how.
Hope this helps
SCT Tuner comes with access to SCT Livelink 6.5 Logging software that allows you to log thru a laptop. Works great. :angelnot::sun: You download the LiveLink software from SCT website.:thankyou:
Nice I think this just sealed the deal. Gonna order this up first thing in the morning. Now to decide on what stage I want.
If ordering Livernois, and have access to 93 (or 94) octane, I'd go straight to stage 4+. Your going to end up there eventually anyways...
Glad you have cash to burn on that extended warranty.

I don't have any complaints with Livernois, but Ford has really been cracking down on warranty repairs due to aftermarket modifications and I wish you the best of luck, but I see it as just taking all of the cash you put down on that ext warranty and throwing it out of the window.
can always cancel the extended warranty and get a prorated refund... and of course while Ford may not cover your powertrain, there is still a LOT of EXPENSIVE things outside of the powertrain that can go wrong that would be covered (depending on which extended warranty you opted for).

Glad you have cash to burn on that extended warranty.

It should be a $1,000. bill burning!:laugh_ti:Exactly - I have the extd warranty, and got it mostly for all the non-engine/drivetrain items. This car is CHOCH full of electronics that will be expensive to repair - what is the cost of the Nav unit to replace? Yes a tune MAY (again MAY) result in a denial of a engine/drivetrain failure - but has a livernois tuned car had that happen?
Like the others stated, it will only pertain to drivetrain. And I think this tune is proven to be safe being that it's been out for years now.
But do you think if a window motor goes out or my navigation quits working they'll deny because they suspect a tune?
Also as stated multiple times, they can see a flash...but disconnecting the battery shows up as a flash as well. So definitely up in the air...but it's definely a risk.

I would go with the tune from Livernois. I've been happy and lots of people are having very good results.
As for your extended warranty, if you've got the touchscreen radio/nav/hvac, price it and decide if you want to keep your extended warranty. I write service at a MB dealer, there is no way I'd own a Benz without warranty. Same with these new Fords and all their tech. It's pricey.
