I was under the impression that these motors, even with proper charge cooling, couldn't handle 15+ psi with stock pistons?

Down pipe? Last I checked justin was s/c.. He's got basiclly a normal stock motor exhaust routing.. no?

my understanding is that LS engines have the same problem cracking ringlands. pull your stock pistons open up the ring gap and reinstall them. I don't know how much more they will take but from what I read that is what cracks ring lands. They get hot the ends touch they bind and break something

Ring lands crack from knock and or from running more power than the pistons can handle. STi's have the same issues. If your ring gaps closes, you'll see it by the scuffed cylinder wall.

I am pretty confident that my #1 cylinder wall was scuffed I will have to look through the pics. I also had coolant leaking into cylinder 1 as well. I am basing this on the color of that piston VS the others. it was super clean while the others looked like they had 232K on them

edit: after thinking about that I start to wonder if I should pull the engine back out of the camaro and buy ARP head studs. I have not herd of people lifting heads on these engines but I will be pushing the limit.

motor dissambled for the block to be bored and waiting for purchase of pistons. scrapped the heads and internals. got a whole 9 buck for it. WTF!!!!

buying ecoboost 2nd week of january and thats where all my funds are going. then pistons. might put them on my credit card though cause they do have a 6/8 week delivery.

Who did you order them through? What compression ratio did you choose?

Actually yes. Howd u know?

Dropped the block off to be dipped and inspected. Along with the crank/rods. Had a head there to to get the volume so I can have a spot on calculation for the c/r. Info should be beack to me by middle of next week then pistons can be ordered.

Jumping in this late but wanted to ask how things were going. I just bought a low mileage bone stock 95 mtx and have plans on boosting it. How's you're going so far and if you don't kind me asking where did you get the vortech t trim and piping from?? Also what are your thoughts on the turbo setup from shosource

waiting on pistons. no expeirence with the ss turbo kit and the piping and s/c i picked up off the forums years ago.


Holy crap. I picked up my plus hood from you. U use to have a s/c sho. sold and IIRC u said u wanted to get an srt8 and s/c that! U ever get one? SHO bug come out and bite u again? haha they always draw people back!

Haha damn good memory lol ya I did get one never supercharged it though. Car sales went down the tubes right after I bought the car lol kinda sucked but I sold the car a little over a year ago ended up having a son he's 10 months now I love him lol miss my charger though. I plan on getting another srt8 but the prices are crazy now if I paid 38k for my 07 and to get a 13 Srt like my 07 will cost me like 45k. But I do want one but I also saw this Sho and couldn't pass it up I want a boosted Sho again lol

Inspected, clean and flux'd block. Changed machine shops so its sitting in my living room for a cpl weeks. Dropping everything off soon. Hopefully I get it back b4 Halloween
