w2z eec, whats the difference?

My car is a cali car, when I installed the superchip I noticed that the computer was labeled W2Z not X2J. Is there a difference? The chip did work, and I noticed nothing but added performance. I'm guessing that its due to the egr set up. Any gains in getting an X2J and swapping that in or not?

Umm.. my 91, and my 92 both have / had xj2's.. and NO egr systems FWIW.

IIRC, pretty much the only difference between X2J and W2Z is the EGR programming. I don't think the performance mappings are any different. If you wanted to get rid of the EGR you'd just have to get an X2J puter.

Yup they had them in Cali. Even for the 3.0 , thats why the W2Z ECU.

Due to smog CA cars have EGR and the diff puter? So then if you swap to an X2J you have to get the non-CA chip right?
