Ok, here's another question I have.

In Josh's video in order to get one of the cups out of the tranny case, you have to remove the VSS drive gear inside and then heat the outside of the case up and then tap the cup out of the case.

He taps it with something but doesn't show with what. I've tried tapping it a couple of times with a drift punch but I'm afraid that the drift punch is going to damage the aluminum.

Question is this...does that have to come out in order to heat the outside of the case up? If so, can anyone share some hints on what to get it started with please.

Thanks in advance yet again. wink

To answer my own question, no, you don't have to remove it. I just got the cup out of the case by heating the opposite side (inside the bell housing) in order to make it give way.

Hehe...I'm having a blast with this! There is absolutely nothing to compare with the feeling of pride and accomplishment I have right now. Progress has been updated in my other thread here . Just a couple of pictures from today, nothing really exciting to tell about.

On a side note though, I used a hand drill to drill out the rivets (I don't have a drill press) and my arms hurt like mad and my fingers feel like jello. :) It's all for the cause.

Great job! Keep us updated on your progress in your other thread. It's interesting to see how everyone else makes out with their work. I'm pulling my tranny AGAIN to finally install my Quaife hopefully this week. Hoping to have it done in no more than 2 days. Especially since the work isn't being done in a garage! headbang

Looking good, im too novice for that, i can change a radiator, but not much more. I had to pay someone to rebuild my tranny.

With Josh's video anyone who has basic knowledge can do this. Just like the intake, it looks a lot more complicated than it really is. It's all a matter of taking your time.
