Ok, car is a 93 ATX with 73k on it. Just completed a full 100k service plus brakes, stabilizer links and had the ATX serviced and flushed.

So I drive it home and notice the next morning that there is a decent size pool of ATX fluid (red) in my driveway (approximately 4-5 oz). I check the fluid, its fine, so I go on to work. upon leaving work there is another smaller pool, check again, its not low, so I take it home.

When I get home I park it and come out 2 hours later to check and nothing, no leak. I take it out to dinner (it had a salad :) again no leak. The next morning, there is another small pool.

So I call up the mechanic and set up a time to bring it out (about a 50 mile drive). Take it out to him, and there is no visable leak, fluid is not low. Put it on the rack, 2 mechanics and myself look under it for 2+ hours! nothing, no sign of a leak at all, no splatter, nothing. Spray some brake cleaner all under the car (its nice and clean now) and wait, nothing no leak....frustrated I take it home, park it, come out the next morning (today) NOTHING no leak.....what gives here? this cannot be normal.

What I know...

This fluid DEFINATELY came from my car
It was definately ATX fluid

Any opinions or advice is appreciated.

You say you had the ATX serviced and flush. Some brilliant mechanic must have missed the whole when he refilled your transmission, and the fluid is probably still dripping off the parts he spilled on.

If they didn't tighten up the plug enough, it could be slowly leaking otu of there...worth a shot

Doesn't an ATX have some sort of 'overflow'? I thought that if it was overfilled after a flush/refill, it may leak some out (fluid gets hot, expands). Just a thought, I could be _way_ off here...

Was there any fluid under the car further back? If there wasn't any, then you have the same problem as my friend with his Gen3. His car leaks ATF on occasion, but only when the car isn't moving. We can't find out what the problem is.

Im figuring you checked the connections and such....so no biggie

When I flushed mine...I got fluid everywhere...hey it was my first time.....Seems it took awhile for the reminents to drip off....I would say take it to the car wash and blow off the underbody.....get this..I went to the carwash with my Jack....propped that baby up and went to town.

To find the leak, use the oldest trick in the book. Next time you see the puddle, precisely measure where it is in relation to the car. That will narrow it down to a few inches. Like, exactly how far back from the front bumper, how far in from the side, you get the picture. You might try to jack the car up and see if it runs out of the subframe or other pocket where it may have spilled.
