I searched and found no solutions. I have been exploring under the dash and found a push button (valet switch?) and the shock sensor for the alarm system. But as of yet I can't get anything to happen. Is there a sequence to get out of velet mode. My old car you had to turn on the ignition then hold the switch for 3 seconds. It's fun trying to figure out why PO did things. So far no money stashed though.

Haven't found the brain as of yet, chased wires as far as i could see. I found a box labeled "sensor" tied to the dash frame, no brand label. The light does not come on at all. It is done very well, not sure if it was installed by ford or not though.

Find the shock sensor and trace those wires that come out of it... they'll lead u to the brain. Same goes for the valet switch/button. They both should lead you to the alarm brain. If they simply don't connect to anything... you don't have one! :)

Where did you find that push button?? Is it on piece of metal right by the fuse panel handle that drops the panel down?? If so, I have one also, and was wondering what it was. I have the factory Ford alarm, which works fine for me.

Assuming your alarm is factory, I have the manual for it. I'll try finding it when I get home from work.

Ok, Crawled unde the dash, The system is Ford. If the lock button on the remote is depressed twice the horn will sound a short blast. Is this activating the alarm? Also the led does not come on at any time, could be burn out maybe, but why does it have three wires going to it? Is it a switch too? It does appear that it could be. the red cover comes off revealinf a small led encircled by a spring????
Hard to put a testor on something that i am clueless about.

Most of the "Ford" brand alarms were Code Alarm. If it's anything like the two "Ford" ones I installed a few years earlier, it will have an indicator somewhere on the dashboard. The button under the dash will be the disarm button and will turn the alarm off by turning the key to the on position and pressing the button (should you happen to set it off). Great if the transmitter battery has gone dead. The indicator light on the dash is also the valet switch. It should be a pushbutton and it should be blinking when the key is off. While the key is off, press the indicator/button for two seconds. It should stop blinking. Now, when you press the arm button on the remote, the car should chirp twice. The first time locks the doors and tells you it received the command, the second time tells you all the sensors are clear and the system is now armed. It should chirp once when you disarm and unlock the doors. The shock sensor you found under the dash should be a two-stage. With the alarm armed, you should be able to get the alarm to chirp a warning if you thump the car near the front door. Thump it too hard or often and the alarm should go off. While the car is in valet mode you basically have a remote entry system.
As I said, the ones I installed were a few years older. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the Input, you have described the system to a T. I think the valet/indicator must be broken, I can't seem to get it out of valet. ie nothing happening. I'm going to try disecting the switch further today or get a new one!
Thanks -- beer
