I did spark plugs today and now have a decent vacuum leak. A few of the hoses are hard and brittle and I suspect I need to replace all of them. Quick question where does the tan vacuum line go? It looks like it goes into the firewall? I don't recall unplugging this. The red one went to the surge tank and the green one the egr. Where do you guys get new intake gaskets?

The spark plugs looked like the original plugs installed from the factory with gaps .060-.072 they were well overdue for replacement.

I don't remember the different colors for vac lines. You can get the intake gaskets from the dealer. Try online discount dealers if you want to save some $. Go local dealer if time is more important.

You can reuse your intake gaskets, just clean and paint them. Had the intake off my V8 NUMEROUS times and never had an issue.

Been too long for me to remember the V8 vacuum lines. I know a common issue is the large one going to the surge tank and the PCV "tee" cracking.

There is a vacuum line the comes off the surge tank and goes to the purge solenoid on the passenger side firewall.

It's comes off the square thing behind the surge tank. It's one of the small plastic lines. Like I said one goes to EGR (green) the other surge tank (red) and the other I'm clueless. Looks like there is a vacuum port on the drivers side firewall, but for what?! I would take pics, but it's raining right now.

Hopefully this helps, see it looks like it goes in into the firewall (look at white circle). The tan line goes in where the red one goes.

Is this unplugged? I went and looked at my car and can't get a good look at the bottom of the line without taking off the surge tank. Too much stuff in the way.

Hmmm... I don't know if it should be that loose.

As I said before, it goes to the harness that bolt into the rear of the surge tank right under the big PCV hose.

Still have no clue where the tan line goes. It goes to the same spot as the red one that goes to the surge tank as seen in picture. I just have this capped for now. The vacuum leak is in the rear. If I have to take the surge tank off again I want to know where this one goes. The green one goes to egr. Also what is that on the firewall (white circle)?

Post this over on the v8 google list. Paul (SHOZ123 above) and Kirk are generally the best go to guys for this stuff. There are others that might know but they are the 2 people I would go to first.

I think that white circle against the firewall is not hooked up to anything on my car either.

If someone has access to a EVTM book for the sho let me know. It's probably somewhere simple I overlooked.

... did you take off the surge tank so you can get a better look at the wires?

Yes, I had the surge tank off and still have no idea where this vacuum line goes. I'm not sure what this has to do with wiring? The other end is plugged in the same place as the red vacuum line.

God.. wiring diagrams for this car suck.....

Anyways, is one end of the tan wire open or are both attached to something?

Makes sence. It's buried back there and has 1 of 3 lines off the top of the motor going to it.
