I was exploring around in Binary Editor the other day and I found an option to change how the ECU determines the load on the engine. You could choose between LOAD, LOAD/PEAK LOAD, and TPS. Default it was set to LOAD, from what I could find, LOAD is the instantaneous volumetric efficiency of the engine, this would mean that the throttle would indirectly calculate load, as the more open it was the higher the volumetric efficiency.

Being curious as I am I decided to change it to TPS and see what happened. This would mean that depending on how open the throttle was would determine what AFR and Spark the ECU would use, rather than relying on the actual engine load. The car is much snappier in throttle response now, which I assume is due to the ECU switching to more aggressive spark and AFR faster than with the other method. The only draw back I see to this is if the engine is under high load , such as slowly climbing a hill, and the throttle is closed it may run a little lean but I have yet to experience any issues. It's quite a bit faster cruising around town, so as long as my engine doesn't melt it's a pretty awesome little mod :woo-hoo:

Adam @ popsracing would be the best person to answer this.

However, see if you can post the load and tps tables and its corresponding rpm and/or fuel ratio. Honestly, looking at Caledit I don't see a tps table. So something's a bit off with what your saying.

Also check if your in open loop with the new setting you have.

There is no TPS table to speak of, but since this causes the ECU to use the TPS as the load (Load = TPS), in essence any table using load is now using TPS instead.

Yeah that is also on megasquirt. Its just another way to tune. .. its useful to get a base tune in the drivewau before you go see real world.

Also depending on what you do to the car it might be more beneficial to use under certain conditions.
However I recommend use the traditional and if its not peppy enough go ahead and do some more tuning. . Stock spark and fuel are a mess is where you wanna start
