I recently had an engine swap done. Engine put in had 11k. I noticed the coolant is green and not orange, so I checked with a local dealer's head tech, and they said it should be fine as long as it wasn't mixed with orange.

I also checked with another mechanic who said it really is not as crucial as manufacturer's make it out to be.

What do people on here think?

Orange is extended lifetime coolant. Swapping it to green is fine.

GM calls it DexCool and it's very, very common for GM guys to swap to traditional green coolant. The DexCool slimes up if it get any contamination in it.

Yup, which is why it got the name "deathcool". Found that one out the hard way.

What year/model was the "new" engine pulled from? Either use Ford spec'd coolant for that year, or a quality universal like Peak. Supposedly HD coolants like they run in big rigs will work also since the same ASTM standards apply, but hard to say, as no one has tried in Ecoboost motors that I know of.

Id see what type of radiator it is first. 99% of the time on these new time cars its aluminum but if it is copper im pretty sure the dexcool eats and corrodes copper radiators. Id only run what the manual says to run though. Even if fords cherry flavored coolant is more expensive.
