now there is a tube hanging from beneath my car. It looks like it comes from the gas tank area and runs the length of the car. No fluid is in the tube although it smells faintly of gas. the fitting doesnt look too secure...i have pictures of it but dont have a hoting. Can someone please help me. There looks to be three cables from the gas tank area forward and this is one of them
(the middle one).

THis is on the passenger side and runs along my frame rail area and run up into the engine compartment.

Those lines are your fuel send and return lines, better get that fixed! The tube your describing is the return line.

that fitting doesnt look very secure for a fuel line. where does it come from on the engine. No fluids are leaking from the tube even when the engine the running. what is the routing. Can you provide some more info then "get that fixed" as that is what i am trying to do....
I appreciate the info but i really need to know HOW to fix it.

Thanx Brian

If it came loose at the motor I would be cautious about running till ya fix it. Wouldn't want any return fuel leaking out on or around the motor to ignite.

You have to get EFI Nylon Tubing, 5-barbed splices(steel) and the nylon clamps. Ford dealer would probably be your best bet for these.

Cut out damaged section of tubing and retain as a guide.
Cut a section of service tubing (type 11 or 12 nylon available in 1/4 and 5/16-inch sizes) to the same length as the damaged section of tubing. NOTE: To make hand-insertion of the barbed connectors into the nylon easier, the tube end must be soaked in a cup of boiling water for one minute immediately before pushing the barbs into the nylon. CAUTION: Do not use any heating method except hot water to repair nylon tubing. Temperatures above 100°C (212°F) cause the nylon to soften and will not seal on the barbed connectors. Replacing nylon line in the engine compartment requires heat protective Hypalon hose.
Select the proper (1/4 or 5/16-inch) barbed connectors for completing the splice. Two connectors are required for each splice.
Install the barbed connectors into each end of the replacement tubing using boiling water.
Install clips onto any tubes which might be difficult to access once the final splices are completed.
Install four keystone clamps loosely onto the original nylon tubing before beginning Step 8.
Complete the splice of the replacement nylon to the original nylon tubing at both ends. Refer to the illustration.
Tighten the clamps in the locations shown in the illustration.
Install any remaining clips which were removed for service and check that the tubes are secured in the original clips.

There...Jason

E-mail me the pic. It goesfrom the tank to the fuel rails. The 2 lines follow each other. I'll probably be able to tell you more once I see the pic.

It goes up the passenger side firwall...2 of them go to the fuel rail and that vapor line continutes to the fron of the car then turns to the drivers side by the front bumper to the canister. Its a square box on the drivers front corner of the engine compartment.

Well, anything to do with fuel vapors is not good. That line is the actual vent for the fuel tank. Thats why it goes to the canister so it filters the fumes.
Is it just the line thats broken? Is it broken at the canister?

well the end doesnt look broken but i cant see that canister it goes to very well. I was able to get the fitting up to it but...it seems to end in an L fiting.

representing the tube and the fitting on the canister. keep in mind this isnt a very flexible (aka not rubber) tube. Also there MAY be something still on the end of the canister sticking out but i cant see it very well.

Anyone know what i have to remove to be able to see this canister head on? or head down rather.

Hey man,
It is somewhat of an L-fitting, I just had mine off last week, had some nasty vapors coming from the tank (the 1 dead line that drops down by the filter, and ends there)....changed my purge valve and its gone... Anyway, Use a 10mm wrench on 1 bolt to take the canister bracket off, that way you can see all of it.......... If you feel around and the ffitting is not broken, you can actually get the hose back onto it, with some fumbling around... GOOD LUCK!
