Im starting to buckle down and round up all the parts needed to pull off the intake, valve covers, and sparkplugs. All I need are the $98 spark plug wires which I will be picking up next week.

Ok, now what are coil packs? Does the SHO motor have them? I know DIS stands for Distributorless Igition System, but I dont know what that means. Are there any replacable parts where the sparkplug wires connect to on that black box forward of the thermostat housing? If you don't know what I mean look at the pic in my sig.

What I wanna know is, what is the SHO equivalent to doing a distributor cap, rotor, plugs, wires on a chevy/ford/dodge small block????

The DIS module is that grey plastic thing located on the intake crossover tube that has 2 electrical connectors attached to it on each side. It is not normally something to replace unless you suspect it is failing.

The coil pack is that thing that looks like a rectangular distributor cap where all the spark plug wires connect to. It also is not ordinarily a replaceable item unless you diagnose it as faulty. Just clean it up real good and blow out any dust and crap from the holes, and dab a little dialectric grease in them before you push the wires on.

The other ignition system "wear" items on your SHO are the camshaft postion (CMP) sensor and the crank postion (CKP) sensor...

If you get motivated, some people (like me) take off the DIS module and clean up the mounting screws and surfaces real good and apply a new coat of that special grease. READ HERE.
