The back RH bracket that bolts the upper intake to the head, (the 1 that the ground strap attaches to), is suppose to just slide off with a slot once it is loosened and mine does not. Does it really need to come off to get the valve cover off? Also I drop a 12 mm wrench back there and can not find it, any ideas? Shophoenix say 12 mm and all 3 others are but back ground strap one is a 13mm

In my experience, that bracket is the hardest to get off because of the wiring loom hanging off it. If the bolt is loose enough, however, that bracket will slide off.

It is easier to get on/off after the intake has been removed.

I found it necessary to have the bracket off to get the valve cover off/on.

What he said ^. That bolt did not come from the factory with a 13mm head - they were all 12mm.

Wierd, on my car it is double sided, with the nut at the rear of it and a "head" in the middle.

I loosened the nut with a 13 mm wrench to the point I can see threads and the bracket is still not budging? Do not know how the get the ground strap bracket off and it kinda looks like I can remove valve cover with it not off? Any help?

FWIW, most of the bolts on my engine don't seem to be factory specs. I remember the guy I bought the car from bought it from a kid for $400 and it wasn't running. He pieced it back together using whatever bolts he could, and it has run pretty decent from then on out. Every time I take the top end apart I have to try different sockets to see which one fits each bolt. I think the 12 or so long intake bolts are consistent but the others don't seem to be.

Also, when you put it back together, make sure that bolt is TIGHT w/ that ground strap between it and the intake, or your car won't start. I think that was one of my screw ups before.

Last, if you're like me and some others on here...those intake brackets are pretty useless (except the one for the grounding strap). I leave the rest of them off--makes tearing the thing apart easier the next time.
