I thought there was a guy on the EcoBoost facebook that was selling sync 2 to sync 3 head units... I think the highest price was $600.

I was referring to shogunofharlem and his 2015 PP. But to your comment, yes, sync 1 would be quite the undertaking to bring up to sync 3.4.

Guess what I got in the mail today...
Went through Jason at www.flvpmods.com for a one stop shop instead of doing all the legwork myself, so I know I could've gotten everything a bit cheaper...but Jason seems cool and I wanted to make sure I got exactly what I needed.

Not quite...not even a close comparison. Leaps and bounds improvement on the whole in-car tech experience. True compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is a big selling point. But this is more than just a "windows" software update. This is more like updating the entire processor and hardware to the latest tech. Ford dropped support for sync 2 pretty quick. But sync 3 is way more intuitive.
Hey, not for everybody, sure, but it's a great way to reinvigorate your in-car experience.

Did this upgrade today. No issues. Once inserted into the USB port, total install time was 28 mins. Haven't played with it much.....er....you know what I mean....
