Upgrade to SYNC 3.4!

For those of you not on Facebook land, there's a good discussion going on about how to upgrade your SYNC 3 to the latest 3.4 update for free.

A lot of us have done it (I'm finishing my install now) with great success, so just wanted to share the how-to.

There is also a new update for the APIM that adds some cool new features if you have Forscan or IDS.

Get the 2012 model she says. It's the same as the newer ones, just a little cheaper. At least with a 2013, I could've upgraded the hardware from Sync 2 to 3.

And this is the kind of stuff I really like. I was dual booting my HTC Eris way back in the day. Rooting phones, flashing roms, unsupported upgrades, etc. Now I'm rocking a stock phone and outdated stereo.

I agree. I want to overclock my Note 10 but meh......I also have the outdated stereo in my 13. I have a hard time wanting to spend the money to upgrade to Sync 3 when, my phone does everything I want it do for Nav and Music. However this is a nice upgrade to the existing Sync 3 users.

Yea overclocking really isn't needed on newer Samsung devices. Current hardware has plenty of RAM and CPU power. I still like rooting to get rid of bloatware, etc but in the past few years its really gotten harder to hack a phone and not lose functionality (banking apps, fingerprint, etc). That's assuming you have a hackable phone at all (Pixel, etc).

Yeah it really opened up my HTC Evo. I am really disappointed in my Note 10. I have never broken or cracked a large screen phone and over the past two weeks with a case on small drops both the glass on the front and back have cracked. Really annoying.

It took about 45 minutes to install on the thumb drive and about 25 minutes to install on the car while I drove around town.

Yup, that's what I found too. I'm not sure how much different it is considering I have an 18, but I figured enough has probably changed with the maps, it was worth it to upgrade. Definitely a different looking blue.

Why does the speed (40), look weird?

Mine looks like the signs on the side of the road.

Is that not a NA map or are you driving in Europe?
