Updating 2016 Sync 3

So I downloaded and installed the latest Sync update which is supposed to have Appleplay?
I’m not seeing this. Voice has changed with few other things. From researching a little, I’m seeing you need to replace usb hub in center console for apple phones to work correctly?
Can anyone confirm 100% before I pull trigger. Thank you.

I do not believe you need to change the hub. Does it have an SD card and RCA inputs or just USB? The USB only is the newer hub and should support carplay.

Correct. For Apple CarPlay to work, you will need to replace your USB hub. After you upgrade to version 2.0 or higher, you need to get part number HC3Z19A387B. That is the upgrade hub for the 2016 model.

All Sync3 have the USB only hub, but in 2016, CarPlay was not supported at first.

Are you planning on buying a kit or individual parts and attempting to program yourself?

I have a hook-up with someone at LKQ for a used one, and I have ForScan. I did my own backup camera install in my old ST, so it shouldn't be too hard!

There is not a selection in sync 3 for Apple car play like Android auto once you update. One you have the new media hub and connect your phone via U.S.B. with apple car play enabled I think it just popped up.

For us Android people once you update, good to go.

Also. If you do a master reset then connect your phone to Android auto your phone will automatically great a Bluetooth connection. I think it' the same for Apple, but I'm not 100% sure.

I'm a Samsung guy, myself. Not a fan of crApple, although I do have an iPad that was given to me.
