I am installing a Python 991 remote start / alarm on my 94 ATX. I have done a lot of poking around to find the proper wire colors and locations to integrate the alarm harness(s) with the car. Messing with the wiring does not scare me a bit. I used to be a commercial aircraft electrician for Boeing. Most say leave it to a professional. Not this time, I want to do it and learn from it. This is the first time however I have attempted an Alarm system on a car. I am just looking for you all to check the wire colors (In Bold Below) and verify they are going to the proper alarm harness wires. The guide that came with the alarm is worthless. It only has what each wire is for (Not in Bold Below).

I will do a write up as I install it and post it on the forum for future reference.

Thanks in advance.

You will need a relay for the trunk release. Otherwise you can look forward to frying your Alarm ECU after the 3rd or 4th time you open the trunk with the remote.

Also, on the parking light wire, I ended up using another wire you will find near the Autolamp switch... I can't recall the color, but if you can wait a week I can look at my install and let you know the wire. For whatever reason, the brown wire wasn't working for me.

I changed my door switch over to use the dome light. Pushing the keyless, touching a door handle will all set it off on mine. :) I also love mercury switches for those 'ground triggers'.

x2 on the relay for the trunk release. IIRC the only additional relay I used in my setup was for the trunk.

Skimming through schematics now...
For your ignition feed for the remote start, be aware there are 2 separate 60 amp fuses. 4 yellow wires are joined up on one circuit, and 1 wire is isolated on its own circuit.

Don't tripple everything up on the 1 wire. It looks like all the accessories B1, B2, B3, B5 (should be labeled on ignition switch connector) are all one circuit, and B4 is the yellow wire used for starting that is on its own separate circuit. As for why they used yellow for all 5 wires I have no clue.

I'll keep skimming through and see if I find anything else.

Edit #1:

Cut White/pink wire in half and connect as noted:
H3/4 Violet Starter Side of Starter Wire on Ignition
White/Pink - Ignition Switch Harness
H3/5 Green Key Side of Starter Wire on Ignition
White/Pink - Ignition Switch Harness

Edit #2
H3/3 Orange (+) 12vdc Accesory Ignition Wire
Grey/Yellow - Ignition Switch Harness
You will have 3 Gry/Yel wires coming off the ignition switch. A2 and A4 are critical accessories joined together, and A3 is an ABS power relay. Make sure you connect to either the wire on A2 or A4.

For starter side of circuit should be Red/Lt Blue

Thanks for the info. I ordered an EVTM from Helm but it hasn't arrived yet. Going to pull the column cover off tomorrow and take a visual on the wires and DVM some stuff out.

I want mine to go off if the door handle is pulled or someone starts pushing my buttons. LOL

I'm looking to see if there is a way to use the "WARN" function on the door handle and keypad.

Np.

Apologies,
I just double checked something and realized that you can use the white/pink wire for both connections, you just need to cut the white/pink wire in half, and hook the wires up as noted below:

H3/4 Violet Starter Side of Starter Wire on Ignition
White/Pink - Ignition Switch Harness

H3/5 Green Key Side of Starter Wire on Ignition
White/Pink - Ignition Switch Harness

It cuts your starter wire in half so that if someone attempts to punch your ignition they will be unable to start your car until the alarm is disarmed and the relay flipped on.

Well I got most of the alarm installed today. Would have had it completed but ran in to one snag. For some strange reason the DEI 520T backup battery module is triggering the alarm on remote start. As soon as the starter goes to crank the alarm sounds and shuts down the start process.

I have it temporarily fixed by disconnecting the (-) trigger from the battery module to the alarm. It needs to be corrected cause it is the trigger that tells the alarm main power has been disconnected and turns on the backup battery so the alarm will continue to sound.

Any ideas as to why this is happening. The battery is a simple install.

Here is the link for the battery install http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/downloads.asp?srch=all&term=DEI+520t

Still need to hook up the trunk release and the supervisor dome light. Once all is completed and functioning properly I am going to get the write up posted.

Well the alarm is installed and everything is functioning as it should. Figured out the backup battery issue. The battery must be fully charged before it will function properly. Takes about 3-4 hours for it to charge. The only thing left is to install the mercury switches (Thanks Eric VerValin) for the hood and trunk. They are on order and should be here soon.

Going to get started on the write up and should have it done and posted by Monday.
