If you guys have a good trans and rear end laying around and can afford to be without the diffs for a while, you've gotta contact M-Factory. They'll make helical LSD's. I've personally seen them do it for the Ford Contour and Mazda 6 platforms, along with numerous others. There needs to be a large group buy from them to do it. Probably 20 people or more for them to dedicate the time/money and effort developing them. Just tell them what all else that it would work in and maybe do a multiple-forum group buy with Exploder guys too. I don't even own a SHO yet and I'd get in on that. LSD's are magic. My Chevy Astro is going to have a helical M-factory in the front and a helical Eaton in the rear.

I don't know if he's still there but the guy that I talked to was Stephen Yeh in their R&D department back in 2014. I was going to get one made for the Aisin TF81SC in my Mazda 6.

I hope that helps.

Thanks,
Ben

Wavetrac is the same way.

We had a thing a few months ago getting names via FB initiated by Adam Moore, a Flex guy, in getting WaveTrac to do this. They needed a 25-30 unit commitment. Had that number and last we heard, @FiveLeeter918 was handed off to continue this effort as a shop was needed to be involved, but sounds like it died. Any news Lee?

I called them again yesterday and told them I have mine sitting on a bench a ready to at least be measured/compared to see if there is anything they have that would be close....

Just waiting on a response from them if they want me to mail this to them, but im open to entertaining other brands...

If that doesn't pan out, definietly check out M-Factory. Their hardware is awesome. The SyTy guys (Syclone/Typhoon) are putting down crazy power with their diffs.

I found, at one time a read diff LSD for the same diff we have BUT when asking the manufacture if it would fit into our diff, they said they do not know. It would be a $700ish gamble.

send me a part number I'll sell you one at cost as a guinea pig, or might even comp you for it. I still don't have time to install my AKD parts, especially now that Colin had to pull his and have it re-shimmed.

They never even responded to my calls or emails. Who did you talk to specifically? I can try again.

I spoke with Ryan. I ended up having to call them back and they said, I could send in the diff, but they'd like all to connecting pieces...axle shafts, PTU etc...thats gonna be a tough one, lol.

They said they would start by measuring and at least seeing if there was something they have that may take minimal modification or if it would be a complete new product.

They said 25-30 units minimum and that each unit would be around the $1500-1800 range...

Might have to check out M Factory, lol..

That price sounds nuts. Almost like a they don't want to do it price.

M-Factory is in San Dimas, a bit of a drive from you if you want to go check them out or drop stuff off personally. I never got anything made by them but form the interactions that I did have, they were really good.

From my hybrid build, I have two RDU with couplers and all sitting in my garage. I plan on sending one to Curry for a custom rear gear ratio. The other could be used to make a LSD. How much is that company wanting?

Not sure you want to change that rear gear ratio unless you change the one in the PTU as well. And that wouldn't make any sense anyway since they are both 1:1. The final drive for this platform is accomplished in the transmission. The PTU steps it down and the RDU steps it back up with a reverse identical gearset, essentially canceling each other out. This allows the front to have the same gear ratio as the rear, but using only 1 actual ring gear

Remember, Eric's doing his for a standalone electric drive in the rear. What the front drivetrain is doing is irrelevant

^ Yup, they will not be physically connected. I am trying to increase the Hyper9 torque output as much as possible. Currently my RDU is something like 2.73:1. The electric motor makes 173 lb-ft at 1 rpm but that drops rather quick. At 4500rpm it is making roughly 115 lb-ft and at 6000 it makes only 57lb-ft. The idea is to find a final drive that will not over spin the motor but will put as much torque to the ground as possible.
