So, after last year's valve adjustment, new injectors, and new computer, I dropped the car off to have the decades old gas smell checked out. I did notice fluid stains on top of the tank last month, and I didn't have time to work on it.
The shop did a smoke test and smoke came from the top of the tank, but the actual emissions system seemed ok. They dropped the tank and found a pinhole on top. They also found the fuel pump base was rusted and was unlikely to seal on a replacement tank.
Fortunately I had bought an 18 Gallon tank off Van Oss years ago, and that tested fine.
Now the car is back together.
First impressions -
Significantly smoother in the 2k to 3500 RPM range than before with the old tank.
I used to have a semi-dead spot which got better after all the parts last year, but now it is impreceptible.

I'm glad I had the tank, as the shop couldn't source one.

That is why every SHO owner has Rockauto on speed-dial. And every SHO owner has a room full of parts, waiting to be used.

There is a 1989 SHO in my driveway that sadly needs to go. Anyone interested?? I joined last September, paid for and submitted a For Sale ad, then my computer when on the fritz. Took quite a while to recover. Don't know if it ever got posted . . . . It is a one-owner car (me). It was driven daily until oil got on the camshaft sensor. Has not been driven since late April 2014.

This should be reposted in the For Sale subforum, not here. I'm sure there would be some interested parties.

I'm interested if it's got the smog certificate or what it needs to get it and the numbers are right
