If going to tuner/chip route which one offers the best for the buck? Looking
for overall performance and driveability, not only WOT performance. Good
shifting for ATX throughout it's operating range. Looking for longevity, economy and performance.

I don't mean to be ignorant, but I do not know what diy is short for. A chip is good, but if you want to change tunes between economy and performance for e.x. if it can be done, I think it would be more advantageous.

The best 'tune' you can do for an ATX has nothing to do with the motor. The transmission will see all the benefit where tuning the motor will probably not be worth all the extra money for the performance you get. You'd probably be better off with a properly programmed LPM. IMHO, YMMV.

We offer the SCT Programming for these cars in the form of a chip.

The chip can be programmed for just about any mod you can think of. Ycode90 is absolutely right. The program with the best performance is the one that will net you the best fuel economy.

A cool thing about our chips is that once you buy them, they are yours forever. I keep all of the tunes I build and archive them on my server. I've got about 10gigs of tunes so far. If you get the chip now, then want some other modification later, I can go right back to your tune and adjust the tune to match your mod. So if you need a new transmission at some point, you can get one or our Custom Transmissions and order it with the lower 3.99:1 gear set. Then I can go right back to your tune and make the necessary changes to the programming to account for the gear change. For simple changes to the programming such as this, we do them at no charge when you buy the upgrades from us.

So if later on, you want to get one of our new Turbocharger setups, you've already got the chip. It can be reprogrammed to account for boost and fuel in you application.

The point is that there are a lot of options. The Tweecer is for those that want to learn how to tune for themselves. The LPM is comparable to our SCT tuning, but there are limitations on both sides. Call the folks you want to buy from, talk to them and make an informed decision for yourself.

How big are the SCT files? I just looked at one of my files and it is 60KB. 10GB would be roughly 174-THOUSAND files.

If you go with the boosted route with this car, the TwEECer is your best option.

The files for our cars are 128k (some are only 88k). The files for my 7.3L Powerstroke are 268K. The files for an '05 Mustang are just over a meg. The files for a 6.0L Powerstroke are 1050K. The files for a 6.4L Powerstroke are 3.2meg. The files for the new 2010 SHO TT are 3.6meg.

YMMV...but there is a nice warm place on my server that holds them all.

So not all 10GB will apply to the OP. Just wondering (seriously, just curious). :)

That is correct, Sir.

We do a lot of tuning for all kinds of Fords...and for each car we do has 3 or more programs.
