Turn ABS off?

Hi, this question regards a 1992 Black Taurus SHO with 195k miles. The ABS continually turns on when on dry pavement at low speeds. I know on the guides it shows how to replace the ABS indicator rings, but I'd rather not go to that trouble (only using the car in the summer, so ABS isn't that useful). Is there an easy way to disable the ABS system?

Pull the fuse for it.

then he might get a check engine light, and not notice the difference if a real problem (sensor failure, etc) shows up.

Pulling the fuse will disable the ABS, although your ABS light will remain on at all times. The check engine light will still work properly, as the ABS has nothing to do with it. ABS has its own separate computer. Your symptoms definitely are pointing to a cracked sensor ring, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace them. ABS isn't just for winter....in fact it does a much better job on dry roads. Just my opinion of course.

exactly what rob said. my fuse blew and all i got was the anit lock light lit up at all times. no CE light. BTW the fuse is under the hood in a black box close to the bottom of the windshield and the corner of the driver's side fender. not sure which one it is though. i want to say # 5 but yet again this was months ago when i changed it. good luck
