So I got a tune from one of the popular guys online. I installed the tune right after a rebuild. The car never ran 100 percent correct. Looking into the tune on the sct it says the axle ratio is 2. Something but it's really 3.16. Will this difference cause any issues

although both the pp and nonpp are awd, there is an axle ratio difference. iirc 2.77 vs 3.16? as a result, the pcm is making incorrect decisions, which affects performance.

Yea, I know and understand what it is and what it's doing and figured it would cause problems but when I mentioned this discrepancy to the tuner the way he responded made it seem like it wasn't a big deal. I've only heard that tuning is the best bang for buck mod but for me it was very underwhelming. So who's the best to get the tune from?

Although I can't comment on other tunes, I have a GH tune on my '14 SHO/pp and haven't had any major issues. The acceleration from 60 to 100+ is breathtaking, and that's what I wanted. The only minor issue I've noticed is with the cruise engaged, and slowing down from 80 to around 50, the transmission seemed to hunt for a gear for a few seconds. This only happened once and now I usually disengage the cruise by tapping the brake pedal when slowing down. I've also lost about two MPG on average since I've had the tune, but that can probably be attributed to my heavy right foot.

you can try 5star tuning, their experience stems more from the longitudinal platform but i have had a couple of people vouch for them on the transverse platform too.

but yeah GH / gearhead seems to be the current fav goto. we are a long ways from the days of Torrie/Unleashed being the tuner of choice.

there is definitely one tuner to avoid like the plague, he likes to take off safety nets as part of his tunes and cause irreversible damage to the powertrain.

Any good tuner will ask you to log data and refine the tune for you. Are you doing this?

Hey Buddy,

I have 13, Non PP. Only “Modifications” are a K&N drop in air filter and Power Stop drilled & slotted rotors and performance pass all around. I do have a tune from Brad for 91 Octane. His tune is fantastic and my car runs Great. The acceleration is quick and smooth and the shifts are crisp but not jerky or rough. I love that the gear indicator light is always on. I love it.

Maintenance is crucial! If you take care of these cars, you will avoid major problems. I change oil every 2,500 miles with
Mobil 1 5w-30 and Motorcraft 500s filter. ALWAYS use the OEM filter that are specifically designed for that engine.

Every 5,000 miles, I remove 6 quarts of Motorcraft LV Transmission Fluid and rotate the tires.

Every 10,000 miles I drain one (1) quarts of Coolant and add one (1) gallon if fresh coolant.
Every 20,000 miles I change the PTU fluid. It is a pain but totally worth it. I have used Redline Shockproof and
Mobil 1 75-140.

I changed the spark plugs when I first bought the car. It had 65,000 mikes. It has 92,500 now and at 95,000, I will change the plugs again. Not because it needs it but just because I want to.

I know this is total overkill but I love working on it and so far so good.

Go with Brad @AJTurbo for a tune and you won’t be sorry. Enjoy your SHO, they are great cars.
