I have a 2010 Taurus SHO that is stock except for SP534 plugs gapped to .30 and a tune from torrie at unleashed tuning (Boost tune). When I first got this tune I loved it. Now it seems like it's not working as well anymore. Using torque pro (i know its not super legit but numbers don't lie) I was running 373 tq to the wheels when I first tuned it and like 290 horse. Now I'm running 280 horse and 290 tq to the wheels. Where did the almost 100 torque go? I can definitely feel it's missing. Can hardly get my wheels to chirp from a boosted launch anymore. Here are the stats before and after tuned I just took this morning. Only seeing a gain of 20 horse and 30 torque tuned..

Stock:

Tuned:

I used to be able to run 370+ tq when I first tuned it. I know that the 1/8th mile and 0-60 are faster tuned, but still feels slower than normal.

Any ideas what could be causing this? Something wrong possibly? I can hardly tell the difference between stock and tuned. Feels just as fast stock. I'll message Torrie and see if he'll send some new tunes or datalog or something.

Hate to tell you, but spark plugs are an essential mod when tuned. If yours are clean, at least need to gap them for the tune.

Datalogging is def the way to go, and Torrie can easily point out "weak" areas for you to look at. When did you first tune your SHO?

It IS possible that if you have done enough hard running, the PTU fluid is contributing to a feeling of "slowness". Despite Ford's claims, the fluid turns to very thick paste over time, and should be flushed/replaced.

It's been tuned for about 3 months now. Probably about 7k miles driven on the tune.. Plugs were changed and gapped prior to the tune. I might take them out and check the gaps and make sure it's all good. It runs great and very smooth... Just feels a little low on power. Is a PTU flush expensive? Something that can be done yourself?

Well, the PCM has a learning curve every time you flash it, so you do expect some change from the first time you load the tune to when the PCM finishes calibrating that tune. Not 100 TQ worth, but some. The numbers look a bit sketchy to me, I'd definitely datalog & have Torrie analyze.

PTU flush: it's a hit-or-miss whether you can get a dealer to do it. Some will do it for $300, some for $70, and many not at all. You can DIY, with car on stands or better yet a lift. So if you have a good mechanic, the job will be fairly straightforward (you have a 2010-12 non-PP SHO) - about 1 hour or so of labor + cost of a good PTU fluid. There are writeups in the HOW TO section here: http://ecoboostperformanceforum.com. You can also sign up & talk to the people who have actually done this job.

Messaged Torrie and he said that there was nothing he could do. Just decided to delete the tunes from the device and reinstall them. Incase of parameters being messed up or corrupted or something. Did another run with Torque Pro.. Definitely back to the horse/tq numbers I was looking for... But my 0-60/quarter mile isn't any better.. Gonna say that's an app issue not car issue. Feels like it pulls about the same.. Maybe i'm just crazy haha. But these power numbers are definitely better.

Take it to the drag strip!

I'd switch up gas stations and pull negative battery for 10 minutes.
