Here's another thing I have going on. I have recently found a cut wire in the trunk. I couldn't get a picture but will try to describe the location as best that I can. There is a wiring harness that joins with the harness for the amp, this harness is between the CD player and the amp, actually closer to the CD player right at the side and the wall of the trunk. There is a gray connector with 3 wires coming out of it, wires are solid blue, red/yellow stripe, and black/pink stripe. The black/pink stripe has been cut by a previous owner. One end of this wire is straight cut with no frayed wires showing and the other end has a small pinkish tube-looking connector attached to it. Anyone know what the wire was for?
Makes me wonder what someone had connected to it also. This car used to have a factory cell phone option and I also wonder if this wire was part of that system?

I guess I could just re-connect the two ends of the wire and see what happens, but I would like to know what it goes to.

First thing that comes to mind perhaps the wiring for the power antenna?? I may be way off on this, but until I get home and pull my back panel off that's just a slight guess. Let's see if others chime in also. I'll be in touch.

The power antenna works on my car, everything works, so I have no idea what that wire could go to. This afternoon, I am going to splice the two ends back together and see what happens.

I had my panel open back there because I have a loose wire in the large black connector at the amp that I have been trying to fix. My loose wire is for the right channel, and if you unplug the connector and wiggle that wire, you can see the female end move from side to side inside the plug.

I just connected the two ends of the wire with a jumper and I haven't noticed anything different. It must be there for a reason, so if anyone knows what this goes to please let me know.

umm...I wouldn't advise hooking up wires without knowing exactly what they are for. Most modules run on 5V for sensors and the car is 12V. This will make the magic smoke out of the module...you don't want that. I wouldn't hook up the wires unless they are the same colors...well now that I reread the first post and saw that it was the same color wires you can disregard this....double ******** on me....

I will have to take a look at mine tomarrow. If you have the JBL system it should be for the center rear speaker. If it's a Mach system they should go to nothing.

Now if I can just figure out a good remedy for the loose wire that controls the left channel. I can see the "female" end of it move when I jiggle the wire, unplugged of course. I have tried sticking something in from the back of the wire and securing it with a small spot of glue, but it is still vibrating loose. Can't solder into plastic so I will have to try something else.

Is this the harness to the speaker or to the amp? If its to the speaker I have a couple of ends I cut off of my stereo when I installed aftermarket speakers.

Thank you for the offer, but sadly, the loose wire I am talking about is in the main black plug to the amp, I don't recall the color, but it is for the left channel. It's funny, it plays fine and then I will hit a bump and it will not be as loud through the left channel, then I will hit another bump and it will be okay again. It will drive ya nuts sometimes.
I thought that by wedging something, (like a small filed down piece of a toothpick), into the backside where the wire enters the plug, and then gluing it in place would remedy this problem, but it hasn't been a permanent fix as of yet.
