Just put new engine in, and I am getting nothing. No electrical power. There is a connection I dont know where it goes, theres a picture. I may have the starter wired wrong, I was told to unplug comp. for a day, nothing. Any ideas would help, I have 3 weeks to get it running, I can't go to a shop I am on disability, I spent everything I have. Please help.

Does it roll over?

Do the headlights and everything else work?

Do your battery cables have the factory ends where the wire is molded to the clamp? there is an extra wire (small) on the positive side, is it still there?

There is a main grounding strap that goes to a stud on the firewall on the passenger side, that nut has to be tight for anything to happen.

It is something simple.

I actually made an whole neg. and post. I get nothing. I originally never had that pigtail on positive, so I didnt use it. Theres one coming from the ignition that goes to alt. Should I use the pos. pigtail as well. And just for my own piece of mind do you know the wire set up on the starter.

Do you know anyone local? There should be a few members left in your area. My best advice is to try and find a local sho owner and compare cars side by side to check your work. I would never unplug more than a few things without labeling both ends. My memory is not that reliable.

Darn me either. The facebook sho group would be your best bet. There is a northwest sho group in the last section on this forum but it is not very active anymore. You can poke around there and see who is posting and see if they have any leads. That would be my first move.

If you find a member you can shoot them a private message through the board. You have your forum name at the top and next to that is inbox. click on that, hit start a conversation, put in member's name and send your message directly to them. Hopefully a try or three with different people will produce a good lead or ideas.

I think the connector you can't find a home for is the CELO (Cold Engine Lockout) switch. It's in one of the heater pipes.

On a Gen 2 starter, there's four wires:
One large black wire is the ground that goes between the nut and stud on the top starter anchor bolt.
Two red wires get attached to the post at the other end of the starter.
One small wire goes to the starter solenoid post.

Judging from how close the intake is to the firewall, I'm guessing this is an MTX. I suggest tracing voltages.

Originally my positive had no pigtail, this new does. Negative is to bolt attached to starter/transmission, then theres a two wires one red and one black( which goes to alt), I labeled the red and it said back of starter. Now I try all kinds of configurations I get sparks at terminal, when I try using pigtail I get a spinning sound abd sparks at terminal.
That connection is not for what you said both of those are on. Its the same connection as whats on the back of the snake, it looks lije it goes on the drivers side in pictures I did take. So originally my starter on had 3 wires, ughh this is hard. I cant read prints either could you draw a picture, say for a child lol

Isn't yamahasho from Denver? But yeah, I have 2 wires on both the pos and negative terminals. And 2 ground straps to the nut on the back of the intake. Double check the big three, starter, alt, and battery. Make sure you have the starter solenoid signal wire on. And just to clarify, do you have power anywhere in the car? The more info we have the more we can help!

I don't see anything wrong with the way you have your wires connected. Time to break out the voltmeter and start tracing voltages.

Okay, two negative straps on back of snake. I only have one on the passenger side. Where does the other one go. I do remember seeing one in my pile of old parts, that would be great if thats the promblem. Ty

There should only be one braided strap that goes from a ground on the firewall to the top stud on the rear intake support bracket, passenger side. For the other strap attached at that point, where does it come from?

I just have the strap, I thought it came from the other engine. How many grounds on the engine. 1 behind snake, 1 from negative battery cable to behind battery @ the one on the mounting bolt of starter.

The small black wire on the battery negative goes to a grounding point on the fender.
I got that, so if the starter set up is right and there is nothing, no lights nothing what and how do I go about using a volt meter thing, all fuses are good, whos this guy that may be from Denver Ill try contacting him also

Make sure the two screws at the bottom of the DIS module are tight, those are grounds as well

2 straps? You mean wiring plugs? The metal screws that hold it to the intake also serve as electrical ground for the module.
