Hey Everyone........

It's the strange guy from Oshkosh seeking help. Wednesday I went to Auto Zone to have the check engine light checked out. 4 codes total........

176, 212, 214, 327. I changed the 02's that day. Scratch off 176.

Just an hour ago I went to Advance Auto Parts because the light came back on. 4 codes again....

335, 212, 214, 327....335 didn't show at Auto Zone. Scan tools different???

I have ID's for the codes just didn't feel like typing it all right now.

CHANGING THAT 2ND 02 SUCKED ROYALY!!!!! I'm sure everone knows:biggrin:

Keith How much $$$ are we talking here:nut:

is this a gen III or gen II?

its hard to tell... the O2s on my Gen II took me all but 10 minutes, including finding the tools and jacking the car

looks like you have a CKPS on its way out too... thats what 214 points to atleast... which could also cause 212, unless you had the spout pulled to try and pass emissions

No emissions in Winneseptic (Winnebago) County. I'll see what happens when I swap out the egr and get back to ya.

Thanks to dantheman68 for reply.

You probably already know this but make sure you disconnect the battery cables for at least 30 minutes after each "fix". You don't want to keep reading the same codes for no reason.

Been there way too many times with my '93 ATX

I failed to do that when I changed the 02's, but the code did go away. I need to remember to do that in a couple days when I change the EGR. Thanks for the reminder:thumb: I just diconnect the Negative, not sure if it's necessary to do both. I haven't been doing much wreching on the Lightning lately.

The positive cable for sure needs to be disconnected, if not both.

:)

It shouldn't matter, you're disconnecting the circuit by taking the negative off, removing power from the ECM.

The codes usually go away over time too, if you're doing it to check to see if the problem is fixed, I wouldn't check right after disconnecting power, because then you wont have any codes in memory either (essentially all it will show you is what sensors are out of their ranges i.e. unplugged or defective) i usually drive it for a day after resetting it and then check it

we have the tools, we just don't test them for you. since you can do them yourself with a paper clip, there is no need for us to do them.

so a tip for everyone on the o2 sensors. i took like a weekend to redo them when i realized i could drop the whole exhaust out. i had the car off all four and took a torch then impact wrech to the two bolts on the front header and two bolts on the back header, then around the third cat there was two rubber hanger i slipped off and since i had side exhaust everything came out super easy, slid out the exhaust on the floor next to me took the o2 sensors off and put the new ones on, was so much easier, then before i bolted everything back up i pluggged in thge new o2 sensors.

I was at Sears one day and noticed they carry a tool for changing 02's. Will be buying it when the time comes again. Never had to mess with these before.
