Transmission?

I have a strange problem. I cannot shift to 2nd gear whatsoever, but I can occasionally start from it. 4th and reverse gears work, however, they take a few attempts before they do. The rest of the 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears work fine. What could be wrong? I suspect the synchros, but I'm not sure on this.

If I were you the first thing I would do is drill a drain plug holed see if any brass comes out with the tranny fluid. IF there is then you will definately need new synchros. If not then you can decide to either fill it back up with a different fluid (synchromesh) or pull it out and take it apart.

5th gear grind is pretty comon, I wouldn't worry about that.
