Transmission swap ?'s

my 99 SHO's transmission is about to bite the dust, And I found a 97 with a good drivetrain and I'm wondering if it'd swap over to my '99 with no problems?

Are there any differences?

If I remember right you can only swap a 98-99 into yours. There is a sensor diffence from the 96-97 to the 98-99. I think if you do a search, there is more info about it

Thanks, wasnt sure, jsut that there was some difference between those years. Still learning about the Gen3s.

The 98-99s are different somehow between the 96-97's. Also the 99's often don't have the OD/Off switch (mine doesn't).

let me look for you.. its very simple to get to i could take a pic of where its at. i have a trans apart on my porch right now.

It can be done fairly easy in the car. I would not pull it to just change the TCC solenoid. You can access the side pan of the tranny through the drivers side inner wheel well.

Break the ball joint to push the left front hub towards the drivers door in the wheel opening.
Remove the inner fender.
Support the tranny from below.
Remove the cross member/support from the drivers side of the transmission.
Remove the side cover of the transmission.
Replace the TCC solenoid
Put everything back together.
Top off the transmission fluid.

Takes roughly 1 - 1.5hrs with a lift start to finish.
