transmission problem

When I put the car into drive it won't go. I have to put it down into 2 or 1 to get moving and then I can shift into drive at around 20mph and it will shift fine. It will start moving in 2 or 1 with no problem so first is still there. Any guesses or suggestions. It is a 97 SHO.

pretty sure your transmision is shot, but just to be sure take out the center console part and see if any of the wires are damaged, but im pretty sure your screwed

thats how mine was but i had to shut the car off and restart it to get it to move then once i did that i only had 1and2 gear so glad the cars rpm is 7grand. did this to get it to the trans shop idk if this is a good deal but it cost 2,600 for them to fix the trans full rebuild and i was told the guy that built it used the best parts he could find. and then they r&r the trans also. had my car back in 2 weeks in the middle of winter.
