Ok so In my 91 mtx my trans is having a little grind like it's not lining up right going into gears 1-4. The shifter isn't super tight either.

I was thinking its something with the rod shifter maybe the bushings or clevis is going out. But before I place the order and drop more money into it I would like some advise.

We need you to be as specific as you can as to the symptoms you are experiencing in order to give you useful input.

You want to first make sure the clutch is disengaging completely, because that could cause the grinding. That is independent of the shifter. If the shifter has play, you need to look under the car to see where there is looseness - it could be in the clevis at the front of the rod, or in the ball/socket arrangement in the console.
