I was waiting at a stop light today when the cross traffic system fault error came on the dash and all the idiot lights went on. The transmission felt like it was slipping and started banging through the gears. I restarted the car and it had the same problems. I restarted it again and it was back to normal. I am taking it to the dealer but wanted to know if anyone had this problem before?

Have your dealer check TSB 10174. There is a servo providing feedback when it shouldn't. Had the same thing with mine, and the second time I got a vehicle health report done via sync. Help them determine what to do.

If they have to reprogram the transmission, make sure they use the correct gear ratio, (performance pgk/no pgk). They different ratios and you will be speeding and don't know it if they put the incorrect one in. Believe me, first hand experience here! Thankfully, I didn't get caught before I figured out what was going on. Speedometer was 10+ MPH higher due to wrong ratio entered.

Hey shipmate,

Retired Navy also. CVN-65 was my last deployment in 2003. What can I do to get them to look into this if they can't duplicate the problem? Did you say that Sync vehicle report help diagnose this? So far three service departments have not duplicated it driving for 20 minutes and no codes flashing so they tell me "Sorry, maybe next time"...

Do I need to go in and insist ..not sure how to help them help me.

Thank you.

Sorry! "NO" codes are stored for this issue. If and when you get errors, "wrench flashes, traction control lite on constantly, Cross traffic system failure, alternates with wrench, cruise control drops out, car goes into limp home mode." Pull over, "DO NOT SHUT DOWN", run a vehicle health report, assumes your phone is paired to sync, and let it send it out. You should also be registered with Sync-my-ride, with an email address. You receive a post about the report. Go to the address given, sign in, read the report. You'll see numerous codes displayed. This issue "DOES NOT CAPTURE CODES!" So, if you shut down and restart, they are gone until next event happens! Do whatever you need to do, copy, print, write the codes down, etc. Don't delete post as you could how the dealer as you could access your email from there PC.

My last tour was NAMTD Det JAX!
