My car is getting above the N on the temperature gauge, and I am finding small pools of trans fluid underneath the car towards the middle front. What can be the problem and what can i do to fix it??

If it's not where the motor and trans bolt up, check the lines coming out the front of the transmission, they have o-rings that can dry up and leak. The fix is under $1.50 if you can do it yourself.

if it is where they bolt up, then what do i do?? Also, when it was really hot outside, a white smoke was coming off the backside of the motor as well.

it sounhds like you have 2 problems.

1 being that you are leaking RED transmission fluid. Which is extremely important that you don't drive it with low fluid or your trans can be toast in a matter of minutes. jack it up crawl under and find the leak.

the second problem is that your engine is over heating. check your radiator to see if it is low. if it is that is why your over heating.

Now you need to find out why your radiator is low on engine coolant. if you see white smoke from the back of the engine then it is likely that your heater hose lines are done for. If you are in a pinch you can just loop them on the engine side and keep driving untill winter. The only catch is you wont have heat inside your car untill you make the proper repair.

The overfill bottle for radiator fluid has fluid in the canister. How much ball park are we talking to make these repairs?

Why is it overheating when temp needle is only hitting N? Sounds just like it is getting warm. The smoke could be from oil leak on exhaust. A stuck or failing t-stat can cause the overflow bottle to fill and overflow leaking coolant on to things also. Check the radiator to see how full it is.
Cost? What are you doing your self?
