Tranny Upshift??

When I drive the car first thing in the morning I notice that the transmission shifts hard from 1st to 2nd. Almost like the tranny isn't getting a signal to shift because the rpm's actually go higher than normal before it shifts. But only the very first time, after that it's fine. Could this be a "computer" problem?

Mine will hit the rev limiter sometimes when it's cold. It's always done it as far as I know. I wouldn't worry aboot it.

Neither of our Gen 3's do that...

I doubt it's the TC. My SHO did that before and after TC replacement.

Mine does that if its cold outside and I dont let it warm up. Lucky for me that I have a remote starter, so I always warm it up on cold mornings.

Tough to say w/out a code . Could be a multitude of things . Shift solenoid mabey ? My former 96 ES did that and the codes it SHOt at me pointed to the shift solenoid 3 . It was worst when the car was warm though . Get a code and start from there .

My tranny did the same thing revved high during the 1-2 upshift took a while then shot into 2nd the other gears were fine. Until yesterday when i was house shopping w/my son without any sign of trouble that day, started fine but wouldnt go into any gear! It was like I had many options of nuetral. The car is at the tranny shop now. Hope you have a better outcome. On the good side hoping to beef up the tranny. Wish I had the money for the 3.98 final gear and a chip though.
