Tranny up shifts

My 94ATX has some shudder during the upshift from 1st to 2nd around 4000 rpm. It shifts fine below 3500 and above 4500 rpm. Signs of a rebuild or can this be fixed without a complete rebuild of the tranny?

Well it's hard to determine exactly how it feels without driving, but if it is a shudder and not a slip then slam type situation, then there is a good chance you are just in need of motor mounts. Does the rpm rise between shifts?
