Well as most of you know by my constant ranting my car has been ******* me off lately. I have new tranny with 22,500 miles on it. I have 1,500 miles of warrenty left. With this in mind I took the problem I encountered with haste. The problem I complain about is when you engage the 3-2 or 4-2 downshift anywhere from 40-65mph. What will happen is the car will essentially rev up really high, actually higher than were the revs should kick in at. Now the car isnt accelerating at all when the revs spike high (about 6,200 rpm) the tranny will then bang and bang again and get into gear and then start accelerating. The problem first started about 6 months ago, but at that time it wasnt really that bad would barely slip. It seems that as more miles are put on the car the worse it gets. When I had Mikey Taurus (Mike Kopstain) drive my car it actually felt like the motor mounts were causing the problem cause it wasnt much of a slip and bang. Now its a long slip and doesnt resemble much of a motor mount problem anymore. And I even had the front and rear motor mount replaced. The problem is that I feel my ford dealer is beating around the bush since I have little warrenty left. I had them diagnois the car twice both times saying that the tranny couldnt be shifting better even though It would do the same crap after I got it back. So I took it back to them again visit #3 and they did a diagnoises and said to replace the rear mount. Well that was done and no fix to the problem. So I went back to them today and told them that I want the problem fixed and that it is definently the tranny and that I want the problem taking care of in one visit. So starts Ford dealer round #4 and Ill see what becomes of my 1993 Black Mettalic SHO ATX. Is it possible that my overdrive bands are toast. (And oh yeah THE TRANNY IS NOT FINE, i have a total of 7 friends that agree with me and most of them work on there own cars, not to mention one of them soon to be managers at a chevy dealership)Chevy

Also, I did a little test of a manual downshift. At 35 mph I put the gear selector into 2nd gear, I revieved a series of thuds as it tried to get into gear. Now should a tranny simply just get into gear without thudding about 10 times. It felt like constant slips.

Sorry bout the length but its nescessary to get all the pertinent information down.

It could be a torque converter problem, but if it's covered by Ford under warranty you shouldn't be responsible for diagnosing it.

Take it back there, speak to the service manager, and if he's no help go to the general manager or owner. Get a printout of your OASIS report while you're there detailing all the visits.

Another option would be to take it to a different Ford dealer. In any case, get what you paid for!

Why don't you just unhook the speedo cable until you bring it in for service. It takes like 2 seconds! That way your mileage won't go up. thumbs_u
