My tranny is delaying in shifting second to third. Once it makes up its mind, the shift from 2 to three is very quick and hard; first to second is normal. The sequence is 1 to 2-normal; delay, delay in 2nd; then bam shift 2 to 3. Second, lockup seem ********, but really depends heavily on throttle position. WOT is much different than 30% throttle. The acceleration is 75%. The tranny has 14k on new fluid. Fluid is fine; doesn't leak. I don't know if there is a problem. Any thoughts?

If my ATX takes a dump, what upgrades can be done to the tranny over rebuild to enhance reliability? thanks.

Take a look at www.sonnax.com and see if they have a "sure cure" kit for your trans. Look for a "cure" for a delayed 2-3 upshift. Also try Transtar Industries, Inc. Do a google search for Transtar.
They have various levels of up-grade and rebuild kits, as well as all other trans parts.

The problem you describe could be a valve body problem, or an accumulator problem, if it is a mechanical problem. It is possible that it could be an electronic problem also. Sorry, I cannot diagnose it through the computer!

There are other possibilities also, such as seals that have become hard and/or cracked such as the piston seals or accumulator seals. Valve body bore wear and/or parts worn or damaged can cause them to stick in the bores until they are overcome by pressure, etc, etc, etc.

Diagnosing automatic trans problems is an art!
