Can anyone explain this or has anyone had a similar experience with their sho?? My tranny slips badly at times, I mean to the point where it seems the tranny is shot, pulling out from a stop it will act like it is in neutral (slipping) and then it will clunk into gear after about 5 seconds. Then the car will move in forward gears but only like 2 mph in any forward gear (D-2-1) but in reverse it works fine. The mystery is that it only does this sometimes, I can park the car and let it sit for a few hours and then it works fine until it does it again, could be a few days later or could be a few weeks later. If my tranny is junk why would it work certain times and only slip sometimes?? Has anyone ever heard of this or had a similar experience?? Any input is appreciated.

I know I posted this same thing about a month ago, and like you said I got no "real answer" from anyone. It is impossibe for this scenerio to have "no answer", there is an answer, its just a question of anyone knowing what the answer is. It's just hard for me to believe that all of the sho owners past and present on this forum that no one has ever experienced this before or known someone that has. There most certainly is an answer, I am just looking for some insight or information that I have not received on my previous post, but possibly will this time.

Mine never did this. The first time I had tranny trouble, I could be driving along and just out of the blue, the car would act as if it was in neutral, it was very random, then the transmission just stopped shifting. I had the transmission rebuilt and a couple of years later it doesn't want to shift out of 1st gear. Now tranny #2 is installed and doing fine so far. No shift kit this time, so the shift is really smooth and took some getting used to.
Hope your repairs go better than mine did, wish I was more help.

low fluid level will make the transmission slip out of gear taking off from a stop

Sounds like a fluid pressure problem, possible gummed up Valve Body or filter, not allowing fluid to make it where it needs to go? I know this is usually a bad thing to do with trannys at the end of their life, but when my tranny was dying I dropped the tranny pan and poured all the old fluid into a bucket and changed the filter (I even found a small piece of a metal shim on the pan magnet. Then I put the OLD fluid back in. I only lost a little over a quart and it made my tranny feel a whole lot better for about a year.

Just call a few local tranny shops. If you can talk to a builder great. They usually give good advice (most of the times depending on the shops rep) Or they'll just strear you to a 2300- 3000 rebuild.
All I know is that my trans runs and shifts fine at 140k (I think it was replaced because a bolts different holding the trans pan), but the torque converter seal is leaking. I thought simple 7$ part drop trans change seal. I have friends at Lee Myles and there like you better pull the trans apart and we'll check a few things for you to show why its leaking !!!
Torque converter stator, pump shaft or the bearing in the valve body that the pump shaft runs on.
I know that didnt help your situation much, but if your handy, like (Bad 4dr SHO said) pull the pan down and see what on the round magnet inside !!!
That should tell you or a tranny guy what life is left in the trans.

There are instructions on v8sho.com about flushing your transmission also, you might try that too, maybe that will help.

simple rule...if there's a bulge under the mini-skirt, politely decline the invitation back to "her" apartment, though usually an Adam's Apple is a dead giveaway.

Usually with tranny slippage, I believe you want to refrain from flushes, that usually puts the nail in the coffin, thats why I reused my old fluid.

Is your car's build date in this range?

Yes, my car was built within that date range. I don't know if this is the problem though because it seems like they are saying that you would have no reverse gear either, my car works perfectly fine in reverse. Thanks for the info.

^ The post above is good info. When a trans neutrals out it can a lot of times have to do with either a faulty forward clutch piston or torque converter issue. If you have the time and knowledge, torque converters are very cheap (under $100) and I would try that route yourself first.
